The random? My exfiance and he left the state for her parents' house for Thanksgiving - we were in the mountains and your cell phone service does not work so I could not call home. On the way back, we have services and fnially my mother called me. She told me that my father had died in a serious car accident a few days earlier and buried and the funeral without me. My father and I are very close. After 5-10 minutes he told me all this and go into the details, he said he was joking.
I thought it was very serious.
We were in the kitchen, peeling potatoes and asked me if I should get a divorce, and he said something to the effect that it is too late and not worth more.
Not sure if your question or my response was abysmal. But they have their 30th Wedding anniversary this week and continue to work mostly, so I think I made the right decision.
